Macmillan Cancer Support and Cwm Taf University Health Board are working together to transfer the services at Y Bwthyn in Pontypridd Cottage Hospital to a new state-of-the-art palliative care unit within the grounds of the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant.
The Welsh Health Secretary is joining Macmillan Cancer Support and Cwm Taf at a ceremony to mark the building of their new £7m palliative care unit near Llantrisant.
Macmillan Cancer Support and Cwm Taf University Health Board are planning to build a new £6.75m specialist care unit near Llantrisant.
The charity and the health board have applied for planning permission to develop the state-of-the-art unit at Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
If the plans are approved, Macmillan would contribute £5m towards the unit making it their biggest single investment in Wales.
A successful Health and Wellbeing event for cancer patients, their relatives and carers arranged by Macmillan Cancer Support and Cwm Taf University Health Board was held on November 4th 2016 at the Tonyrefail Workingmen’s Club in Porth.
On a whistle stop tour of South Wales, Eve Conway, president of Rotary International for Britain and Ireland 2016/17 visited the Macmillan Unit garden at Prince Charles Hospital on July 29th. She was accompanied by Steve Jenkins, Rotary District Governor for South Wales.
