What we do
Primary Care Services are available to patents living in the Merthyr Tydfil area and these are provided by:
The Cluster serves approximately 61,000 patients and there are 11 GP practices which operate in the Cynon area.
We work together across services, including the voluntary sector and social care, to ensure patients have access to the right services and support.
For example, skilled pharmacists provide medication reviews and will see patients instead of the GP. A service by MIND therapists offers sessions to patients with early presentations of anxiety and depression.
Who is it for?
Services are provided in our communities for everyone living in the Cynon Valley area. You can access services in many different ways.
For minor and common ailments, including cold, you could visit your pharmacist.
For eye conditions go along to your optician.
Visit your dentist if you have a tooth abscess or toothache.
Make an appointment at your GP surgery and the reception staff will book time for you with either the GP, Nurse or other practice staff to suit your health needs or condition.
Can anyone use this service?
What to expect
By accessing the most appropriate service, you will receive treatment from the right person and have access to support and/or have an appointment which is more convenient.
Changes are taking place to the way we deliver your healthcare in and out of hospital to ensure that services can be provided in the community, as close the people’s homes as possible and the way you access a service may change.
Should any of these changes not suit you or you feel your care has not improved due to this, please let either your GP practice or the Health Board know.
